As you can see in todays comic, Omega is like Bass in the fact that hes smart enough to question Dr. Wilys orders. However, unlike Bass, hes loyal enough to follow orders regardless. However, as he demonstrated with Rush, hes also independent enough to tell the difference between a suggestion and an actual order. But the thing that makes him even more dangerous, is that fact that when he does question Dr. Wilys orders, Dr. Wily actually listens.
So Bass's self destruct was powerful enough to burn off his hair and sever his left arm, but not much else. I was kind of hoping he'd at least be a little more off balance, but at least it did more damage than some people thought it would.
I'm still wondering why people keep saying Bass self-destructed, myself. There *are* other ways to deliver a point-blank range explosion, after all. Grenades, if nothing else.
If Bass used a grenade for a point blank range explosion in the state he's in, it might as well be a self-destruct. Plus, if he was saving it for Mega Man, it would probably be a weapon that he only had one of and could only be used once.
i have to agree that any high powered explosive bass could use that would destroy omega zero's arm would given his already damaged stat destroy him as well and might as well have been considered a self destruct. and for hose that will say it can't be a self destruct because that violates the 3rd law of robotics. since when has bass been an avide follower of the laws? he's first law safe at best.
Who the heck CARES about Asimov's laws of robotics? They are not neccesarily programmed with Asimov's laws. Did Issac Asimov help make Mega Man? I didn't think so.
actually the point of X and zero is that they are not in any way bound by the laws they are aware of them, but can ignore them. this is pointed out in MMX in the intro before the game even begins. megaman, bass, roll, blues ect should all be bound by the three laws (although some say blues has evolved past them on his own)
Actually, Bass was just programmed to use whatever means neccessary to accomplish his goals. He has no respect for life, human or otherwise. Probably, the only one he actually respects is Megaman, as a foe worthy of him.
It wouldn't make much sense for Wily to have his robots programmed with any concern for the Three Laws, except in his case. Light on the other hand very much would.
The Laws they follow are not neccesarily Asimov's laws, it was never actually stated what the Laws in the MegaMan world are. The only one we know about is that the robots cannot kill human beings.
